San Jose Seminary hosts SemNet Q1 meet

San Jose Seminary hosted the 1st quarterly meeting of the The Diocesan Seminarians’ Network of the Philippines, Inc. (SemNet) from August 26 to 27, 2017. Representatives from 14 theological seminaries attended the meeting presided over by Sem. Charneil D. Laparan (Diocese of Marbel), National Secretariat for the SemNet.

The meeting provided an avenue for diocesan seminarians to discuss pressing Church concerns as well as socio-politial issues.

Participating seminaries include Domus Josephi Formation Center (Pasay), St. Francis de Sales Theological Seminary (Lipa), UST Central Seminary (Manila), St. Alphonsus Regional Seminary (Lucena), Mother of Good Counsel Seminary (Pampanga), Lorenzo Mission Institute (Makati), De Paul Formation House (Quezon City), San Pablo Theological Formation House (Tagaytay), Tahanan ng Mabuting Pastol (Tagaytay), St. Augustine Major Seminary (Tagaytay), Immaculate Conception Major Seminary (Bulacan), Immaculate Conception School of Theology (Vigan), Holy Rosary Major Seminary (Naga), and San Jose Seminary (Quezon City).

The SemNet representatives of San Jose Seminary for this formation year are: Sem. Charneil Laparan (Diocese of Marbel), Sem. Roel Joe Abonal (Diocese of Borongan), Sem. Genesis Frances Toledo (Diocese of Kalookan), Sem. John Mary Francis Nuqui (Archdiocese of Manila), Sem. Jaime Jhemboy Varona (Archdiocese of Palo), and Sem. Emerald John Paladin (Archdiocese of Cotabato).

Working under the banner “Diverse in Charism, United in Mission,” Seminarians’ Network of the Philippines – SemNet was formed in 1991 as an organization of diocesan theology seminarians in the Philippines. At present 28 seminaries are part of the network. (Jeric Pena)
